About
powRSS (pronounced “powers”) is an RSS feed finder, reader, and aggregator.
Enter a URL to find and parse a website’s RSS feeds. You can also read recent posts right within the site. It’s a quick way to gauge the frequency of a website’s updates, this way you can decide if you want to subscribe to the site with your own feed aggregator.
To discover new sites and blogs, check out the powRSS public feed aggregator, which shows the latest updates from its RSS feed.
FAQ
What’s an RSS feed?
In short:
RSS is a web feed that is readable by computers. A web feed is a data format used for providing users with frequently updated content. It means that whenever the blog or news feed gets updated, the user can receive the update in a feed aggregator.
With RSS, subscribing doesn’t need email! You won’t be asked to give away your email address to any blog or site, and that site won’t be able to sell your data to anyone. RSS just simply visits or opens the blog’s RSS file and checks for new writings or media, and will show it to you in a human-readable way.

Why would I want to use RSS?
-
No algorithms. You decide what you see, hear, read, watch, or learn.
-
No FOMO. You select and organize your media consumption. You can receive updates of any kind, from the latest recipe from your favorite food blogger to the newest clothes from your favorite designers.
Instead of manually checking for updates across multiple platforms, new content will be delivered to your feed aggregator whenever you want.
How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?
You will need a feed aggregator.
Here are some good options:
- NetNewsWire - free, open source, available for Mac, iPhone, iPad
- Unread - available for Mac, iPhone, iPad
- Inoreader - free up to 150 feeds
- Vivaldi Web Browser - includes an RSS reader out of the box
How does the feed aggregator work?
The powRSS Feed is inspired by projects like the CAPCOM for Gemini and Bongusta for Gopherspace. It parses a list of RSS feeds and generates a static file daily with the latest updates in each site going back a month.
A maximum of 100 sites are selected each month, with every month showing different sites to provide all sites a fair chance of being discovered.
You can find more information about the background of the project here.
How do I suggest or submit a site?
Suggestions are welcome! Send an e-mail with a site you want to see featured, and as long as it’s not full of ads or trackers it will likely get accepted.
